Help Update Kentucky’s Underground Map
Notification areas are the mapped location of our Member Utilities’ underground facilities within the state of Kentucky, and Kentucky 811 members will receive locate requests based on the areas provided. It’s important for member utilities to provide Kentucky 811 with the most current mapping information – see below for information on how to update your service area polygons.
IMAP – Designed for Member Utilities
IMAP, OCC’s online mapping application, allows member utilities like you to directly view and manage your notification area. Whether you’re making manual edits or verifying and approving replacement polygons, IMAP provides the tools to best define the notification area around your underground facilities and is available 24/7.
Updating Member Notification Area Polygons
There are two options available:
- Make and approve manual edits online using the IMAP application.
- Send buffered polygons around your facilities in shape file format (.shp) to . Include your state, district code, and whether the polygons should replace the existing notification area or if they are new additions. After the polygons have been processed, they will be uploaded to IMAP for your verification and approval.
